T M SHEARD - the Modest Manxman
This website is dedicated to Tom Sheard, the first Manxman to win the Isle of Man TT races. His name is already in Isle of Man TT history, alongside the other heroes and great men who have won this prestigious motorcycling event.
I have compiled a book on his life and exploits, so that what I know is put down for those interested in his thirst for victory and in motorcycling history.
*****************GREAT BIRTHDAY GIFT*************
T M Sheard – the Modest Manxman concentrates on Tom's racing career, including personally collated reports from newspapers of the time, which I amalgamated. It also chronicles Tom's personal life and shares family memorabilia. The book is self-published (which means that it has been painstakingly(!) self-typed and arranged then professionally printed), with the price being kept as low as possible (only £10) as I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it. It consists of 147 pages with many photographs and images. (Have a look at extracts from the book on this website).

T M Sheard – the Modest Manxman makes an ideal birthday, Christmas or anytime present for the bike enthusiast, local historian and for that ‘hard to buy for’ person. It is sometimes very difficult to find an original, thoughtful, ideal gift at an ideal price!
I am usually around the Grandstand and Hillberry Corner at TT and MGP time so don't hesitate to come and have a chat.
With the Centenary of the Mountain Course, and with Tom's winning Douglas motorcycle in original winning condition being such an important and unique part of that history, I hope to find a fitting place for it to be on display/s briefly in TT 2012, if it has not been recommissioned by then. The only thing holding the recommissioning up, is my wish to do a documentary filming its journey from being static, to being re-born to take its rightful place touring the Mountain Course once again..............I'm sure Grandad would approve.
Feel free to learn more about Tom on this website and 'see Tom's winning bike in action' via the tab at the top of the page.
Thanks for looking J
